The ERF (European Robotics Forum) 2021, the most influential meeting of the robotics community in Europe, will be held this year online from 13-15 April 2021.
Interview by Steve Doswell with Anibal Ollero at the ERF 2020.
This year the head of GRVC and Professor of the University of Seville Anibal Ollero will organize with Jacob Rodriguez (Endesa-Enel), Stephane Menoret (Thales Group) and Juha Röning (University of Oülu) the Workshop “Autonomy in Aerial Robotics for inspection and maintenance” that will present recent results and demonstrations of relevant projects, including the following H2020 projects: AERIAL-CORE, HYFLIERS and H2020 PILOTING Project.
The organizers and speakers: ENDESA-ENEL, CHEVRON, TOTAL (THALES GROUP, Terabee, VES, NEOBOTICS are top level members of research institutions, relevant companies, technology manufacturers and start-up companies.
The motivation of the workshop is to embodied Artificial Intelligence as a relevant characteristic of aerial robots for inspection and maintenance. In some applications the end-users prefer fully autonomous solutions, while in others the intervention of human pilots and other operators is preferred.
On the other hand, energy autonomy, referring to the time of flight and range, is a critical characteristic involved in the inspection of large infrastructures and plants. In the Workshop the existing technologies will be analysed together with the end-users preferences in order to generate recommendations for multiple applications.
The Workshop will also present recent results and demonstrations of relevant projects.
